Flaperon Handle Position Retainer

Used 5/16 inch diameter tubing. Much lighter and it does not hit your leg.

Update 08/14/04 - Flaperon Handle Modifications

While wearing a double shoulder harness, it is not possible to reach the flaperon lever knob.

To make the lever more accessible, the tube was cut just in front of the retaining tube dedent for the flaperons in the "up" position. A notch was cut into the tubing free end so that it would set on the lever just behind where the tube had been originally mounted.

This position moves the knob up and back so that one does not have bend forward into the belts to reach the knob.

The repositioned tube and knob assembly was welded into with the assembly leaning inward toward the cockpit. This is necessary so that the knob will clear the aluminum dedent tube. In fact, what is shown here was not enough, and I had to bend the tube at the airport to make it clear.

The flaperon lever in the full "up" position.

The flaperon lever in the full "down" position.

Update 10/16/04 - New Flaperon Control

Installed a new continously variable flaperon control on the left side of the FireFly. It can be seen at click.
